About VRTcalc.ie

VRTcalc.ie is a free calculator for people importing cars into Ireland. It shows the Vehicle Registration Tax before you commit to a purchase, using live official valuation data rather than a rough percentage. A paid document adds the line-by-line breakdown with customs, VAT and the total landed cost.

We built it because the biggest cost of importing a car is usually invisible until the inspection. Knowing the number early is worth thousands, and there is no good reason to charge for it.

VRTcalc.ie is a private, independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for Revenue, the NCTS or any other public body, and every figure here is an estimate: the final amount is always determined by Revenue at registration.

The rate tables behind the calculations are checked automatically against the published Irish rules, including after each Budget, so the site does not quietly go stale.
